Hazel C. Montepio and Municipal Administrator Atty.
Elisa Evangelista- Lapiña received the Certificate
of Eligibility for the Institutional Recognition and
the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) of the
four programs Bachelor of Public Administration
(BPA), Bachelor of Science in Office Administration
(BSOA), Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Education
(BTVTED) and Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness
(BSAB) on the “Gawad Parangal” for Higher Education
Institutions (HEIs) in Davao Region on October 15,
2021 at Davao del Sur Coliseum.
Atty.
Lapiña represented
Mayor Ernesto “Tatay” Evangelista in the said
occasion because the latter was attending an equally
important event.
The awarding ceremony was participated by 250
Head/Administrators of HEI's and local government
unit (lgu) leaders, CHED Chairman Prospero E. De
Vera III and Unified Student Financial Assistance
System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) OIC
Executive Director IV Atty. Ryan L. Estevez.
The
“Gawad Parangal” is
given in recognition to several chosen HEIs in
Region XI, who implemented the Republic Act 10391,
also known as the Universal Access to Quality
Tertiary Education Act.
RA No. 10931 is a Philippine law that
institutionalizes free tuition and exemption from
other fees in local universities and colleges (LUCs)
and HEIs.
Based on
the data from
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region Office
(RO) XI, the law has already resulted in 1,623,642
Free Higher Education (FHE), 435,367 Tertiary
Education Subsidy (TES), and 91,334 Tulong-Dunong
Program (TDP) beneficiaries.
President Flores was very grateful for the
institution's achievement. He thanked God and the
whole of STCAST family. "STCAST is now and forever
in the roster of Local University and Colleges
(LUCs) in the country!" he proudly quipped in his
